Bloggers Quilt Festival is a great event put on by Amy at
Amy's Creative Side twice a year. I think I have finally figured out how to enter a quilt! Please enjoy my quilt story and take time to send Amy's Creative Side a huge thank you for all the time and effort involved in this festival.
Back in November of 2009 I noticed that I had enough fabric sitting around to sink a ship. Some of my stash went back 20+ years……………back to when my Daughter was a little bit of a thing! Since I
wasn’t working I decided that I should put the fabric to good use and try my hand at quilting. Since then I have made 7 quilts and enjoyed the process of creating them and gifting them is a wonderful experience.
I had tons of bright colored fabric so I decided to make some baby quilts (you know the drill, try and start out small). The quilt I am entering into the Bloggers Quilt Festival was the second baby quilt I made and I was loving triangles about then.
This quilt was a gift for my Daughter’s Sorority sister. She was due to have a baby girl right after college graduation so what a great gift idea. These college students work so hard to succeed in college that they deserve oodles of praise for that alone........... and then you add the challenge and blessing of a baby, wow! My Daughter wanted her to have something special for her baby so a quilt was born. A gift that can be cherished by a new Mom and her baby girl.
This quilt has a bit of everything in it, even some batiks. The binding is a super bright stripe that has a ton of bright pink in it mixed with some of the fabric that I used in the quilt. I backed it in some soft and
snuggly flannel with lots of bright colored circles on it.
I hope this quilt brings smiles and cuddles for many years to come. It is so much fun to gift a quilt and see peoples faces when they realize that you actually made a quilt just for them. It was a huge success with the Mom-to-be and now it’s keeping a beautiful baby girl warm and snuggly.
That is the best compliment you can get, a smiling baby wrapped up in a quilt you created!
I would also like to thank everyone who has commented on my posts. I have set it up to get emails so I can respond to your comments from now on.
Enjoy
Keep Smiling,
Kelley
